About CRC robotics

“CRC Robotics” is a name very commonly spoken at Miss Edgar’s and Miss Cramp’s School. CRC Robotics is non-profit organization that aims to help develop the minds of young people interesting in pursuing sciences, mathematics, engineering, teaching, inventing and many other fields. The fact that there are such an overwhelming number of interesting subjects that range from art to science incorporated into the competition is possibly CRC Robotics’ greatest aspect.

CRC Robotics has its annual kick off in October. In February, high school and CEGEP students come together to show off what they have come up with over the past four months. Over the course of those few short months (which always seem to fly by), students grow as individuals and help there peers grow as well. Certain qualities that someone would never imagine having bring groups of people together.

There are five main aspects to the competition: students have to build a robot that can participate in a game and compete in skills competitions, but we also have to document the process through a movie, journal and website. Finally, we must build a kiosk that serves as a place to display our accomplishments and repair the robot during the competition.

This is Miss Edgar’s and Miss Cramp’s School’s fifth year participating in the CRC Robotics competition. Over the past years, we have shown the competition just what we are capable of. Last year, we took home two first-place plaques, two second-place plaques and one third-place plaque. We surprised ourselves when we came first in the game board category. We also came first in the movie category. We scored second place in the website and kiosk category. We were awarded third place in the sportsmanship category. All of these achievements helped us bring home an overall first place trophy! The entire ECS community was so thrilled when we announced the good news last February. We could not be more proud of ourselves. Seeing our first place trophy every day is a reminder of how much hard work pays off and motivates us to try even harder this year.
